Studio ups n downs

Ahh, the studio.

Eek!  the Studio!

Well….that’s the short version. 🙂

Time in the studio is a little like taking final exams while having wild sex.

You exalt in the moment, as you distill your ideas, the hours of practice (alone or as a group), your creative vision, add touch of luck and a good engineer, and magic happens. what you heard first in your head becomes something you can take with you on your ‘pod, your CD, your notebook. Now you can share that audio-visionary goodness with anyone who cares to listen–the more the merrier.  Pure awesomeness.

We had a little bit of that magic happen this weekend.  First and foremost, let me recommend Chris Djuricic, of Studio one in Racine WI.

Chris is the Bass behind November’s doom, so his “street cred” is a a musician is certified.  As to his recording work:

Chris was a right and proper pro: relaxed, at turns funny and serious, but always with a keen ear, and  mindful of the clock. If you’re visiting from out of town, state, or country, his studio has a full kitchen, living room, even a couple of bedrooms–a band could stay for weeks, if needed.  (You can immediately see the advantage of this, as the stay is included in his rate: less hotel fees=more studio time!)

I’ll be back in two weeks to revisit vocals, and listen to the wonders Joe has in store for his guitar parts.
